to the Raptor Ridge Ranch, located
Loomis which is in the foothills of the
Sierras in Northern California. We
been raising cattle since the 70's
and in 1984 were introduced to Pinzgauer
cattle at our local college. Since
then we have stayed with
purebred Pinzgauer cattle and never
looked back.. At the start we had
named our ranch Mini Acres after our
first cow, a Jersey Angus who had 11
calves for us, her last two were
Pinzgauer crosses. We have changed
the ranch name to Raptor Ridge because
of all the hawks and owls that live in
our area. The Red Tailed
hawk in the Logo was just taking off and
I was able to catch his take off. We now
have several families of Red Shoulder
Hawks nesting close by.
At the moment have a
small herd of 3
mother cows and 2 heifers .
Raptors Double 07 has been sold but d his 2014 babies are
now here. We have one calf left
to sell after weaning. Check out our
for Cattle for sale and more info on
this fine breed.
In addition to our cattle we also raise
Australian Shepherds, check out our
Aussie Page to
see what is happening with our dogs.
We do not have any litters planned till
next year, but when we breed we try to
produce the best, all around dogs that
can do it all. Our pups have done well
in conformation, performance, and
herding. All have great
temperaments and are structurally
Sammy Scissor Paws- we lost this
Puppy Raiser at almost 18 years
of age. He is missed dearly
Our new kitten Simon
Missy - our other fuzzy
late August we lost
Peppermint Pati's 35year old daughter.
Peppermint (AQHA name Peppy Polka) was a
granddaughter of the great AQHA sire PEP
UP. "Filly" (registered name Sweet
Sasions) was by Sweet Daddy a top running
Quarter horse in California and later
stood at stud in Brazil. Sweet Daddy is
out of the great mare, Vandys Katsy who
also produced Sugar Vandy. Only horse
a nice Grullo filly we holly
"Holly". Holly is
a is breeding stock paint and a
beautiful Grulla color. She
is my new "do it all horse".
She is pretty good on cows, loves the
trail and really has a good mind.

Peppermint at 32
Gone, but never forgotten, She
was 35 years young.
We lost old Peppermint at age 34 on
March 16, 1999 to complications of old
age. She is now buried on a hillside
sharing a pasture with cattle, donkeys
and other assorted wildlife.I had owned
Pepper since she was a foal and also
owned her mother. She traveled with us
for a tour of duty in Hawaii. Sailing
over by boat and returning by plane has
made her quite a traveler. Peppermint
has her ROM in Western Pleasure and has
points in Western Riding, English
Pleasure, and Halter. We spent many an
hour pleasure riding and just enjoying
the out doors. Peppermint showed in
halter until she was 32.. The picture
was taken at the 1996 Loomis Basin
Horsemen's Association Horse show. She
was first in the Old Timers Halter
Class. This class is for horses 20 years
old and over.
Peppermint was always there to listen to
me when I needed someone to talk to. It
was hard to say goodbye as Granny was a
friend and pal. She will be loved and
missed tremendously by all she touched.
We know she is galloping through the
hills up above watching over us. We love
now we have lost her Daughter, Filly.
She was 34 when she
left us August 2014.
